Weíve been delighted and warmed by support from many people, especially the cast and crew, our families, and the people whoíve advised us. We thank them very much.

We also give our deep thanks to these (alphabetically) listed supporters: the individuals, the organisations, and our contacts within the organisations.

Arts Access Aotearoa writes: Working with Developmentóthe—movie, its mission and its transparent processes, has been inspiring. Throughout our involvement with the project, Development has modelled alternative approaches to filmmaking and funding, which will open the door for others to get their stories on screen. This project is about providing access and cultural community development. Arts Access Aotearoa believes this is a film that needs to be made.

Jane Campion writes: I am stunned when journalists ask, ëWhy do you make films about women?' It's like asking me, ëWhy do you speak English?í To know what it's like to be a woman, as unjust, as undervalued, as maligned as it can be, none of this, though it is wrong, can alter the extraordinary wonder of being female, where despite the disempowerment, there is so much love, so much creativity, so much power. We are women, we are only half the world, but we gave birth to the whole world. No one on this planet should be ignorant of our views or our voices.

Kerry Prendergast, Mayor of Wellington, writes: I warmly endorse this project that comes from the heart of Wellington's creative community. It is a totally Wellington concept, yet aims for a global audience in the hope that it will inspire women in distant places to stand up and tell their stories in film.

Development seeks to make the voices of women writers and filmmakers better heard, as even now only a small proportion of films are directed or written by women in New Zealand, let alone the rest of the world.

It deliberately follows a low budget process, describing itself as the product of a barefoot approach to film-making that plans to be freely available online for everyone. But to do that it needs to tell a good number of virtual tickets to pay for the production.

I love lots about this project; the central theme of an old woman with a lifetime of battling for justice gearing up for one last campaign; the fact that the locations are all within walking distance of Oriental Bay; and not least the determination of the team led by Marian and Erica to break out of the standard path of film-making and change with the times.

I wish the project every success and urge you all to get your virtual tickets now, to help it all happen.

New Horizons for Women Trust writes: We are proud to support Spiral's fund raising for its feature film Development, a pilot project that aims to tell a great story and model a new way for women to make movies.
