Pinky Agnew/ Greta
Greta hopes to move beyond her status as an emerging filmmaker and make a feature film. Frustrated by the obstacles she meets, she is undergoing therapy with Jasmine, to deal with her anger and to develop greater resilience.
Pinky writes: I am attracted to Marian's film for two reasons. Firstly, I am painfully aware of the dearth of good acting roles for women in theatre, film and television. This is primarily because the industry is dominated by male scriptwriters, directors and producers. Marian's script cleverly highlights this, and in the process provides acting roles for a good number of women! On a personal level, it's a great story, well-told, with an interesting role for me.
Secondly, and equally importantly, I really like Marian and Erica, and relish the thought of working with them again. They both have such warmth, integrity, and intelligence, making them delightful to work with. They treat artists with respect and aroha, valuing our work and listening to our viewpoint.
Pinky is an actor, writer, speaker, and social commentator on radio, television, and in print. She is also an MC and a celebrant who mostly officiates at weddings and also at naming ceremonies, civil unions and funerals.
Pinky writes speeches and scripts for her own performances including An Evening With Elvis-Anne, (Downstage) and her one-woman show Pinky Pops In. She collaborated with Lorae Parry on a comedy piece for corporates starring their Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark characters, Leading Ladies. They also co-wrote two successful musical comedies, The Truth About Love (Circa theatre, plus touring arts festivals, and private performances for corporate clients), and The Candidates (Circa Theatre). Their third play, Sex Drive, was workshopped at New Players Theatre, London, in October 2009. As well as her stage work, Pinky has acted on film—in her Love Mussel cameo and in a long list of short films made by friends—and on television, primarily as Jenny Shipley, on McPhail and Gadsby, and TV’s Censored Bloopers. She has done some television presenting, as the anchor for a women’s TV show on an experimental Telecom UHB channel. Pinky specialises in conference MC-ing. She also MCs events such as awards ceremonies, charity events, concerts and art exhibition openings. As an after-dinner or conference speaker, she enjoys researching and writing a speech for a particular group or industry, weaving particular themes in where appropriate, and using humour to bring out messages. She also does motivational speaking and workshops. Pinky has published two books of readings for ceremonies, Heartsongs and Lifesongs, (Random House) and also has a self-published book, Pinky’s Poems. In 2004, Pinky was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to entertainment. Pinky was born in Port Chalmers and lives in Wellington

For women who want to make movies. And for the people who love them.
