Loren Taylor (Horsley)/ Meryl
Meryl’s a golden girl. She’s a singer who works for the One Door production company and is writing her first feature script. She’s torn between wanting to advance her career and wanting a child.
Loren writes: I'm thrilled to be part of a project which is so firmly standing in its position of empowering women. It's not every day I get offered a chance to play a golden girl—and any opportunity to sing I will grab with both hands.
Loren is a writer and actor. On television, she has appeared on Insider's Guide to Happiness, Xena, fantasy show Atlantis High, and had an ongoing role on The Strip. In Gaylene Preston’s documentary Lovely Rita, she portrayed painter Rita Angus.
Loren helped write the first film she acted in, the road movie Kombi Nation (nominated for best screenplay at the New Zealand Film & Television Awards). She co-wrote the story for Eagle vs Shark with Taika Waititi, and won the Newport Film Festival’s Best Actress Award as Lily, the shy, overadoring fast food worker she created. Loren also co-wrote, co-directed and co-produced (with Taika Waititi) Heinous Crime, which won 2004’s 48Hours competition.
